Love it or hate it….

You need to look after it

here is your important aftercare information

Immediately after treatment, there may be “frosting” on the area that is treated.

Redness and swelling is usual and the area will feel tender and similar to sunburn.

The first 24 hours, a dry and cool compress from the fridge (never ice) should be applied and this is especially important to do so regularly during the first 24 hours, paracetamol is also recommended for any discomfort.

Any dressing that has been applied at your treatment can remain for 24 hours or up to 48 hours if second skin has been used. Do not get the dressing wet.

If the dressing comes off, clean gently with mild soap and tepid water, pat dry with kitchen towel and add a good layer of Vaseline and apply a new dressing.

repeat this for the first 48 hours, cleaning daily and replacing the dressing or where are blisters, continue this until they have gone down.

Cooling your treated area in the first 24 hours (even when the area feels okay) will reduce healing time and the chance of any blisters appearing, also reducing the size and severity of any blisters that may appear. If blisters start to appear a dressing can apply a light pressure to reduce the size of blisters.

The treated area should be cared for delicately until healing is complete and care should be taken to avoid trauma to the area for the first 7 days after treatment. Continue to apply Vaseline for around 10 days to 2 weeks.

Clean the treated area daily with a mild soap or hand wash allowing water or shower to run over the wound, and then pat the area dry using kitchen roll or a fresh clean towel.

The area may become itchy, do not pick or scratch, apply more Vaseline to prevent the skin from drying out which can cause cracking.

Keep the area clean and covered with loose clothing for around 5 to 7 days

Do NOT pick, peel, rub, scrub, or scratch at the skin in the treatment area throughout the healing process. If crusting occurs, do not shave or pick at the area.

Although blisters and scabs can be a normal response to tattoo removal and in the case that you do, it is important to not pop or pick at them. If the blister pops on its own, keep the skin over it covered with Vaseline ointment and gauze to promote healing and preventing breaking or tearing the blister which could cause scarring.

No swimming or using hot tubs/whirlpools until the wound heals usually after 2 weeks.

Physical exercise that causes perspiration should be discontinued for at least 2-7 days after treatment as excessive perspiration may disrupt the healing process.

Avoid ALL sun exposure for the first 2 weeks. If treatment area is exposed to the sun use a thick layer of 30+ SPF sunblock with zinc oxide and reapply every 2 hours.

After the skin is healed, usually after to weeks, you can use moisturiser or bio oil to help the skin fully recover over the following weeks before your next session, the area will feel dryer and you can moisturise as much as twice a day to help improve and rejuvenate the skin.

If you develop any kind of rash or wheeling anywhere on the body call 111 as you may be having an allergic reaction to the toxins released in the ink particles (Although this is extremely rare)
