here is your important aftercare

Our triple wavelength diode ice cooled laser is considered to be one of the safest laser systems for permanent hair removal and as such it does not usually cause unwanted or painful side effects.

Although, sometimes when treating stubborn, tricky or very thick and course hairs there may be some redness and sensitivity, which is considered to be normal and the following information will help you to manage any sensitivity correctly.

Cold compresses (not ice) and recommended skin care products such as Aloe Vera or Germolene may be useful to reduce swelling, pain and erythema or general discomfort. Erythema may last for several hours. You may experience crusting or scabbing which is normal, although not usual and can be managed at home by applying a small amount of Aloe Vera or Germolene, never pick, pull or scratch at any inflammed areas.

If you have purchased a course you will be supplied with Allantoin spray which is especially made to soothe and reduce any side effects of SHR within minutes, please spray on to any affected areas. These are also available to purchase in clinic if you are a Pay As You Go client.

You may take over the counter pain or anti-inflammatory medication. Hydrocortisone cream may decrease any itching or skin irritation and may be obtained via the chemists.

Your skin will be fragile for 2 to 3 days. Use gentle cleansers, but do not rub the skin vigorously and avoid cleaning with very hot water during this time.

Skin moisturisers and skin make-up can be applied if the skin is not broken. Aloe Vera gel can also help aid in recovery.

Avoid sun exposure and tanning creams during the entire course of treatments. Use SPF 30 or greater on the treatment area at all times and cover the skin with long garments where exposure may occur.

The treatment area may be left open and uncovered. Do not scrub the area. Do not use any other products on the skin, other than what has been recommended by your therapist.

Avoid soaking for 24 to 48 hours. Only use mild/ warm water to wash or clean, never use hot water.

No saunas, hot tubs, whirlpools, or vigorous working out where you may sweat.

Keep the area moisturised and allow any scabs (very rare) to fall off on their own. An antibiotic ointment may be used.

Avoid irritants such as retin A, retinoil, renova, glycolics, bleaching creams, acids and exfoliants for one week.

Refrain from alcohol for 3 to 7 days (this is particularly recommended after treatment for thread veins as alcohol may dilate blood vessels in the treatment area)

Keep well hydrated

It is always best to avoid smoking for several weeks before and after your procedure, as smoking constricts the capillaries and taxes the immune system. Thereby slowing the results.

Avoid photo-sensitivity inducing foods (notably celery and leek)

Make-up can be applied after 2 hours

On occasion, clients experience blistering that causes crusting. This usually does not occur until the following day. If it does occur, the patient can apply warm compresses and a topical antiseptic ointment. This occurrence should be relayed to your Aesthetic Practitioner as future treatments will require that the settings be adjusted.

*Report any unusual side effects to the clinic.
